Website created by Grigoriy Sidelnikov, the author of all articles. Let's play Starcraft II.
What is the best race in Starcraft II? A Zerg army is just as effective as Protoss or Terran and in the hands of a skilled player can be equally devastating.

ost websites about playing Starcraft 2 contain articles that describe only general strategies and tips. Other resources such as the paid Starcraft 2 strategy guides created by skilled players are not free. In my search for free Starcraft strategy guides I found very little in the way of practical and specific information.

This motivated me to create my own website where I share my knowledge about how to play Starcraft. This knowledge was acquired by playing hundreds of Starcraft games since the game was released on July 27, 2010.

This website is a free strategy guide which is organized to help you build confidence playing Starcraft by teaching you practical tips, suggestions and strategies explained in great detail. Micromanagement techniques are important skills that when mastered, can be potentially devastating to your opponent. Questions such as "How many banelings does it take to destroy a terran supply depot?" will be tackled (By the way, its 5 Banelings).

Information like this can make a big difference on the effectiveness of your micro strategy. You will further learn about the difference between micro and macro gameplay and what it means.

If you have just bought your copy of the game and have no idea where to start, read the Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty article which contains basic information about the game, including a brief description of each three races (Terran, Zerg and Protoss) and system requirements.

This website was created to help you improve the following areas of your Starcraft strategy:

  1. General Strategy - This section is prerequisite knowledge that Starcraft players learn as general realizations, rather than specific strategies. This is a checklist of important general concepts that a skilled Starcraft player becomes aware of after playing the game for a long period of time. These are the things that may not become obvious to a beginner-level player right away. If you've never played Starcraft before, this is the right section to start discovering the commonly understood tactics of the game.

  2. Minerals & Gas Economy - The more minerals your worker units (scv, drone or probe) collect, the more buildings and units you can create. Choosing the number of worker units is a conscious choice made by Starcraft players. This choice is in the direct relationship with the build order, style of gameplay and the choice of going micro or macro.

  3. Build Order - You are mining minerals and gas. What's next? This is a perfect time to start construction of new buildings. Build-order is the consequent order in which you want to choose building your structures. The build order is sometimes chosen as part of an already well-defined strategy, or it is a reaction to the enemy's race (or with a little creative strategy thinking, it is both at the same time). Based on the strategy of your choice it is possible to have a different build against each different race or develop a standard build that makes sense to you and work on making it perfect against all races.

  4. Army & Unit Control - You have constructed several buildings and pumped out some units. Simply making counter units (units that are stronger than enemy's units) is not enough. The way these units are controlled is equally important in determining the result of a battle.

  5. Knowledge of the Map - Knowing the territory and ability of using the terrain to one's advantage gives a tremendous advantage in determining who is going to win the game. It is not uncommon that the outcome of the battle is determined by a single event that shifted the power from one player's side to the other.

  6. Timing your Actions - A well-timed action is an attack performed with the right type of units, over the right type of terrain at a very specific time during the game. Learn what type of things you can accomplish by using your units based on particular events that take place in the game.

Hello, my name is Grigoriy Sidelnikov (this link opens my personal blog). I make my living building websites and writing all content for them. Because writing is one of my passions, I even created a website teaching how to write creatively, called Writing And Creativity.

I spend a lot of time thinking and writing, putting a great amount of effort into learning to write and explain concepts in an easy-to-follow manner, especially to Internet audiences. Because of this I also had to learn how to make websites and along the way made a website about that, too! Feel free to browse and learn at your own pace.

I am determined to provide highest quality content available on the Internet and I genuinely hope that you found my writings helpful, or at least interesting.

If that's the case then I am honored to help you develop a better understanding of playing Starcraft. This website was created on my own time with the intention of providing a fun and reliable source of information related to the strategies of Starcraft II.
